Again he sent other servants, saying: Tell them that were invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my calves and fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come ye to the marriage (Matt. 22:4). Our conference is all ready. Speakers and schedule are lined up, and even the menu has been determined. This number of the Ad Rem is a last minute reminder. Please see the schedule and other information below.
You can now register online for our conference. It’s Official: Brother André is a Saint!

I give thanks for the grace of being present when the Holy Father declared my patron, Brother André Bessette, CSC, to be a Saint. It happened in St. Peter’s Square this very morning. Thanks to the good graces of a priest-friend, who works for the Holy See, our brothers had …
St. Joseph,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], St. Theresa, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Brothers

Here’s a little secret I reveal to readers while the Brothers are on our Roman pilgrimage. Exactly a year ago today ― on the feast of St. Theresa of Avila ― the MICM Brothers in Richmond, N.H. instituted a new observance in our horarium. St. Theresa, as readers may know, was very devoted to St. Joseph. In fact, much of the modern devotion to the great Patriarch of Nazareth is due to her prayerful,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], cloistered work. So we chose this day to institute something we had been contemplating for a while.
Very Good News: a New Priest for SBC

All friends and supporters of Saint Benedict Center are hereby informed that Father David Phillipson has been appointed to serve at Saint Benedict Center, Richmond. Father has been granted faculties by the Bishop of Manchester to offer Mass and hear confessions at the Center’s Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel. Please …
Alabama Prison Inmate Has 100 Converts to Catholic Faith

Meet Russ Ford. His story is astounding and may be just beginning. After serving twenty-three of his twenty-five year sentence, Ford now has new forensic evidence that can prove his innocence. Stuck in an anti-Catholic penitentiary,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Russ Ford is repeatedly denied parole, the last time because his confessor refused to reveal to board members what the prisoner told him in confession. He is a convert himself, having been converted by a fellow prisoner in 1989, soon after his incarceration.
Christopher Columbus More Than an Explorer, Harbinger of the Gospel of Salvation

Joe Hargrave has a fantastic little article, with no apologies, on Christopher Columbus, which is posted on the American Catholic website. Catholic historians used to rave about Columbus. They told what? a brave sailor and explorer he was, and, above all, that he was a devout Catholic and third order Franciscan. He put the Faith wholeheartedly alongside his quest for a western sea route to the East Indies. The full name of his ship was Holy Mary of the Immaculate Conception.
Great Article on Auriesville Pilgrimage

Our conference is progressing nicely. Some of the talks are already available, including my own opening remarks; Liberal Learning, Manual Labor, and Experience by Dr. William Fahey; and Faithful and Wise Servant by Christine Bryan. What I interrupt my conference schedule to let you know is that there is a wonderful writeup of the Pilgrimage for Restoration that was just published. Fittingly entitled “Too Soft for Suffering?” the article was penned by Mr. Michael Six,
The Blessed Shepherd Who Received Blessed Shepherd John Newman into the Catholic Church

With the recent beatification of Cardinal John Henry Newman some attention was given to the Passionist priest who received Newman into the Catholic Church. His name is Blessed Dominic Barberi.
Benedict XVI to the Brazilian Bishops: A Message of Indifferentism?

Yesterday, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the Holy Father received a delegation of Brazilian Bishops in Rome for their ad limina visit. In his address, the Supreme Pontiff reminded their Excellencies that “mission” is integral to the life, not only of the sacred hierarchy and clergy, but also of all the baptized. Or, as the Vatican Information Services English editor awkwardly headlined it: “Mission, An Essential Part of the Mission of the Baptised.”
Joe Sobran, RIP

We are saddened by the news that Joe Sobran has died. Mr. Sobran was an eloquent writer and gifted thinker whom we were privileged to have speak at one of our Saint Benedict Center conferences. I was informed by a mutual acquaintance that Joe died yesterday at 3:00, the hour of mercy. Dr. David Allen White writes here — while Joe was still very sick — of the effort of a Catholic friend to bring a priest to the dying man’s side.
The Unjust Excommunication of Bl. Mary McKillop

The religious foundress scheduled to be canonized on October 17 as Australia’s first saint was unjustly excommunicated by her bishop. So much has been known for a long time. It is claimed now that documents support the assertion that Blessed Mary McKillop was excommunicated because she was a whistle-blower who reported the misdeeds of an abusive priest.
