There’s a periodic table for that!(TM) Anyone who has read ForeverGeek for a while knows that we are big fans of periodic tables. Don’t believe me? We even have a periodic table tag. Although not every author in the history of FG totally element focused was and would gladly leave out the creation of a new element from a geek-gasmic list, generally we do love our elements and periodic tables. So time for a roundup of periodic tables. While there are lots of periodic tables out there, we did stick to tables which at least do look like a genuine periodic table and not one of the many knock offs Read more »
What if the Marvel Universe was actually inside the computerized world of Tron? Marvel Comics has just released a set of 10 variant covers that show artists’ renderings of what some of Marvel’s top-tier heroes would look like inside Tron. I’ve never been a huge fan of variant covers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but these covers — by Marvel artists Mark Brooks and Brandon Peterson — are all kinds of cool. Awesome enough to make me wish Marvel would do a Tron-ized version of their universe. (Hey, they’ve already done Zombies, Apes, and Noir versions, so why not?) No doubt this is further evidence of Marvel’s ongoing assimilation into the Disney empire. Read more »
Judging from the feminist attacks I received when I wrote my Star Wars Corsets article, which by the way I meant no ill will towards women with, I chose to take a slightly safer approach this time, so I introduce to you the Droid bathing suit from Black Milk (notice the single piece, body covering design). The Droid outfit is debuting in Australia where the summer is about to begin as our bleak, cold, wet Autumn and Winter take over the U.S. So what do you think? Can you really enjoy the view at the beach if the swimmer looks like a curvy version of R2D2? Read more »

Microsoft made it real this morning: 17 is the magic number. That’s how many titles will be available for Kinect when it launches in a few weeks, on November 4th. Well, okay, so not all 17 will be available on the 4th — only twelve of them will be — but the rest are considered part of Kinect’s “launch portfolio,” aka games available during Kinect’s initial launch window. It’s interesting to note that there are no less than 4 exercising games, and 2 dancing games. Here’s a full breakdown. Kinect Adventures: comes with the Kinect device. Available November 4th. Kinectimals: $49.99 standard edition,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], $59.99 limited collector’s edition (comes with a Read more »
Disney believes that the look of ?Tron: Legacy is the future of fashion accessorizing, and is ready to make the future today. Hence, this collection of fine jewelry and couture inspired by the movie. Disney Consumer Products has partnered with high-end designers like?Rousseau, Hayden-Harnett, Rotenier and TomTom to create what they call “luxury accessories for women,” many of which are based on the look of Tron‘s female lead, Quorra (played by actress Olivia Wilde). And when I say “high-end,” I mean it: prices start at $90 and go up to $2,600. Disney is also launching a store in November in Los Angeles that they’re calling the “Tron Pop-Up Shop.” All Read more »
Thanks to Franky I’ve become familiar with the artist Banksy. After reading all posts here and seeing videos inspired by his art work I have read about him on several other websites. From what I have read of him he seems a bit like Bill Watterson, the creator of Calvin and Hobbes. Both of them don’t seek publicity nor strive to make big bucks by marketing their products. This in a way speaks to me, as they are artist who care more for their work than their cash flow. I have one tattoo for somewhat over a year and a half and I took a long time to decide on Read more »

Xbox.com has just undergone a major upgrade and overhaul, and Xbox Live users will find lots of enhancements to their overall experience. The facelift’s biggest new feature is the new Avatar editor where you can now create and edit your Xbox Live Avatar right from your browser. This is something Xbox users have longed for, for ages, and it’s a fully-interactive Silverlight application that lets you purchase or preview new items, including in-game reward items. Other new enhancements include: New layout for messaging, where you can view messages, friends, and game requests more easily Your Account center now has basically all of the same functions as what you can access Read more »

The man who once promised to “make you his b*tch” (with Daikatana, a game so bad it couldn’t even make you its meter maid), has released his latest game, and it’s one of those painfully cute Facebook social games in the same vein as Farmville. It’s called Ravenwood Fair, and Romero built it in just 2 months alongside eight employees of LOLapps, a company that exclusively makes Facebook games. (Other games in LOLapps portfolio include Garden Life and Critter Island. Combined, LOLapps boasts 150 million active users every month.) Romero is best remembered as being the co-creator of id Software’s first roster of first-person shooters like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Read more »

I’m not sure about Knight & Squire. After reading the review from Newsarama, and how the writer Paul Cornell is ‘clearly reveling in the Britishness of it all’, my enthusiasm waned slightly. I had been really looking forward to this series but as for ‘reveling’, well, as a British guy I rather found the opening panels over-powering to say the least. Don’t get me wrong, Paul Cornell‘s writing is a treat, and this is no doubt a feast for anglophiles abroad, especially enhanced by the appearance of Ernie, The Fastest Milkman In The West. Just days after word leaked that Guillermo del Toro is working with THQ on a number of new game IPs comes this shocker: Patrice Désilets, the man behind the Prince of Persia and Assassin’s Creed games has signed on with THQ as well. Désilets is best known for his super-successful work with Ubisoft Montreal on those two bestselling game franchises. At THQ, he’s similarly expected to create and develop an entirely new game franchise, but just what that franchise will be is entirely unknown. Désilets will work with a new, dedicated studio of his own, based in Montreal, but working under the THQ banner. He will begin his work for Read more »

It’s been a roller coaster week for geeks, from disappointments over perplexing comic-to-movie adaptations to box office successes to big time Internet privacy fails. Let’s jump right into this week’s wins and fails in everything geek. FAIL: Nick Cave’s The Crow An unnamed actor in the cast of the forthcoming Crow movie, set to star Mark Wahlberg, rejected musician and quirky, dark film maker Nick Cave’s script. So it’s back to the drawing board for the movie, and both Cave and Crow fans are left scratching their heads. A Cave Crow could’ve had tremendous potential with Cave directing and screenwriting. Such a pity. Read more »

Marvel has just released a brand new trailer for the next big story arc of Amazing Spider-Man, which presents the next major change in status quo for Peter Parker. It seems Peter has gotten himself a new girlfriend (who’s name is not Mary Jane) and a nifty new job working for Horizon Labs. And as the trailer shows, he’s also going to be trying out some new costumes, and enjoying some free time thanks to a fellow wall-crawler helping him out. Personally, I lost interest in Amazing when “One More Day” retconned pretty much everything from J. Michael Straczynski’s run on the title. But this is a very nifty trailer. Read more »
See the crazy picture shown above? That freaky little creature is how our brains see the inside of our body. The idea of how our brain depicts our body started in the 1930s when Wilder Penfield began poking around live brains of epilepsy patients. Wilder noted what part of the brain affected which body functions they controlled and how that part of the brain made people feel. Wilder’s experiments led to a distorted view of how the brain sees our body, that view is the picture above known as the cortical homunculus. Basically cortical homunculus shows what part of the bodies are considered the most important by the brain. Here’s Read more »
After my post a few weeks ago on empty printer cartridges that a clever artist used as art, I got to wondering about what other things used ink cartridges might be made into. A quick search on Etsy turned up these bizarre lamps, made by seller Lowell & Louise, which I find oddly mesmerizing. The popular term for recycling old materials into something entirely new like this is “repurposing.” These ink cartridge lamps have been completely disassembled and reassembled with suitable bulbs inside, custom-cut aluminum rods to hold the multi-cartridge variety together, and a basic two-pronged power plug. Available as Chandeliers, Hanging Lamps, or basic Lamps, their prices range from Read more »

Last week, we saw some really cool accessories – TRON style – courtesy of Robin. ?I think most of them were for us girls, though. ?Here’s something that will work for anyone, no matter what your gender is: a?Tron-inspired watch (or a set of them). Dubbed 7R0N (or s2v2n-R-z2ro-N), the design was dreamt up by a guy named Scott from the UK. ?Anyone who has seen the host of TRON: Legacy posts that we’ve shared in this site will not fail to see where the inspiration comes from. ?Here, take a look at them and tell me if they are not drool-worthy. So how do you figure out what time Read more »

My boyfriend and I recently took our relationship to the next level. We established a pull list together at our local comic book shop. Let me tell you, it was a joyous occasion. This came after significant searching for “our shop” – that one magical place with all the right elements to draw us in and keep us there. We wanted a place we could take our hard-earned nickles and dimes every Wednesday, eagerly, the way other couples look forward to,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], oh, I don’t know…a bottle of Chianti over Dancing with the Stars? (I’m a geek. What the hell do I know about “normal” relationships?) We wanted our sanctuary. And Read more »
